The Solution
Published on February 28, 2004 By aconservative In Health & Medicine
There are lots of Americans who do not have healthcare insurance. Included are even those with jobs. Why is this so?

The real reason is because of the ambulance chasers and unions. The chasers camp outside healthcare facilities wishing for that opportune time. Union members manned these healthcare facilities asking for more pay. As a result the cost of healthcare becomes too excessive that healthcare insurance companies are forced to increase their rates.

So what’s the solution?

Create hospital ships that are anchored just outside the territorial limits. Equipped these ships with the latest medical technology. Manned these ships with US trained doctors, and medical specialists to insure quality healthcare. For the labor-intensive jobs, nurses, and technicians, cooks, etc. hire them from countries like India, Malaysia, China, Korea, Philippines, Mexico, etc. Insure that the incumbents are qualified by passing the tests normally given by States.

This will insure that healthcare facilities are outside the realm of those who sue and strike.

Once setup, reduce the cost of insurance, so that it is within the reach of small businesses and individuals families.

For every medical emergency, medical helicopters will take the patients to these floating hospitals.

This may also apply to Medicare.

Any comment?

You certainly have original ideas, but you won't get them through Congress. Both the Republicans and the Democrats will reject this idea. Helicopters are expensive. Pilots have to be well trained and are paid well. The machines themselves are expensive. What would be more cost effective would be city funded local clinics in every neighborhood, the cost would be determined by the income of the patient. Our city does that. It keeps people from using the ER.

The cost of getting people to those ships would be astronomical.

In every new endeavor, the initial outlay of funds will be greater than the ordinary. Investment companies would like it because there is no competition. As the business grow and competition appears in the horizon, a strategic adjustment of costs becomes necessary. In 1939 the PanAm Clipper flew to Marseille, France with 22 persons on board and the fare was $675. In today's money it would be around $4000. Homes at that time were around $5000. Today, the price to go to France would be half of the $675 no considering inflation.

Liberals would surely reject this idea because the government is not involved. They believe that the government is there to solve all problems. Individuals don't need the government to solve their problems. If the government can provide the opportunities then that's all that individuals need.

If the cost of the heli-ambulance is high, it can be used sparingly to those who need medical attention immediately, otherwise, a speedboat will do.
